FIRST IN THE 6’S ON 275 DRAG RADIALS!
What a supercharged start to the racing season for ProCharger-powered racer Phil Hines! Coming off of a strong racing season last year, Hines is totally stepping it up and breaking records as this season kicks off by achieving a MAJOR milestone during 1/4 mile testing for the Lights Out Radical Race at South Georgia Motorsports Park in Valdosta, GA.
As reported by the NMRA’s Mike Galimi: “NMRA racer Phil Hines is first to break into the 6s on 275 Drag Radials tires with his 2001 Mustang GT. He accomplished the task during testing for this weekend’s Lights Out Radial race at South Georgia Motorsports Park. Hines recorded the run in what used to be NMRA Super Street Outlaw specs–3,150 pounds, ProCharger F3-121 supercharger, and a nasty BES 430ci engine with Edelbrock SC1 cylinder heads. Hines unleashed a sick 4.53 at 167 mph and ran to the finish line in just 6.89 seconds with a speed of only 198 mph. He dropped the laundry early and expects the speed to be up around 208-210 mph. By our calculations that would have would put his final elapsed time at a tick quicker than the 6.89 that flashed on the scoreboard. He made the run on Mickey Thompson 275/60-15 ET-Radial Pro tires.”
During the 3rd round of actual competition this past weekend in Valdosta, Phil ran even faster than he did during his record-setting ¼ mile testing, and ran a 4.40 @ 168 mph in the 1/8th mile; this would have been a mid-6.60’s pass going a full ¼ mile.
After the Lights Out race, Phil is changing out his ProCharger F3A-121 supercharger to an F-1X for the NMRA Street Outlaw competition. We look forward to seeing Hines race with a ProCharger F-1X! Way to go Phil and congrats again for being the first in the 6’s on 275 drag radials!
